Buenos tardes mis seres queridos! This week in the life of your NMAM missionary:-First off, we ran out of miles this week so we were on foot. We used every last one of our 800 miles for the month. My heart goes out to all those missionaries that are on foot 100% of the time. Kudos. I have a new found appreciation for our car. Also, a lot of people have dropped us this week so we spent a good few hours in the rain tracting. It's good for the soul though. And builds character... that's what I told my companion, who hadn't ever tracted before hehe.On Saturday we walked 3.5 miles to Juan Cigarroa's house. He was very impressed that we made that effort for him but felt that he wasn't that important. We had a good lesson with him. He is still waiting for a sign from God that's it's time for him to get baptized but he said that he wants to! He is also afraid of failing after baptism though. His dad and brother were baptized in different religions and apparently hypocrites. We still have work to do with him but he is close! He told us that he knows that we want him to get baptized so that we can feel like there are fruits from our labor but that we have made a difference in his life and that our work is paying off. He thanked us for visiting him and for pushing him to read the Book of Mormon. He said that he has read many books in his life-- old books, new books, thick books, famous books, etc but that he has NEVER read anything like the Book of Mormon and that whenever he reads it, it applies exactly to him and that it it just incredible. :) :) :) Also, afterwards, him and his wife took us out to dinner and they told us stories from all of their travels in the U.S. and Mexico. AND they gave us red chiles and cabbage from the field he works at!Saturday night we had to be inside by 6 and our ward was having a Halloween party! It was the most hoppin church activity I've ever seen. I'm telling you, the Mexicans sure know how to party! Good food, good people, good fun.On Sunday we finally got Carmen to church with her two sons! They loved it. Everyone was so friendly and helpful (one of her sons has autism.) Now we just need to get her to stop seeing her boyfriend that is 30 years older than her and married...Jackie is doing great! She is loving everthing that we teach her. We had a lesson with her and Gabriel (boyfriend/baby daddy) together this week. She really wants to be baptized and told Gabriel that if he wasn't going to marry her than she was going to move out with the baby and get baptized! (Which is obviously not what we want but she is serious about getting baptized!) Gabriel is scared of the commitment. Jackie said to him "We already have a baby together and live together so it's basically like we are married. We just need to make it legal!" She is a fireball. We definitely have our work cut out for us!Yesterday we discovered that flies have been breeding in our window. Yep. Disgusting. We have killed 41 in the last 24 hours. It's kinda like a horror movie. Happy Halloween?Next week my pday will be on Monday. Transfer time again! It is seriously "flying" by. HA!Hasta la proxima!Hermana DeardenPictures:1) Jose came to visit me at church!!
