I can't believe that 6 months of my mission have already come and gone! It just makes me realize how much I need to cherish every moment and always give it my all! There is no time for anything less.
We had a great and busy week! Last week unfortunately started out with a funeral. It was a man that I didn't know and it was the first funeral that I've ever been to. Life is so fragile but we need not worry when we trust in the Lord. The ward misson leader asked us to perform a musical number on the spot. Thankfully it wasn't too bad.
That same day we were at stop sign but behind another car and all the sudden the kid backs into us! I was honking at him but it all just happened so fast...then he turns around (we thought to pull over) but NO he speed off! It was ridiculous. Also he looked 12. If that. But the good news is that his little car had a big ol dent in it and the light busted out but there wasn't even a scratch on our truck! Hah! #cantmesswiththearmyofgod
We have been teaching Alicia and Jessica and they are doing great! Jessica has a TON of questions life about demons and aliens and who created God and other crazy stuff. The best part is that the scriptures can answer everything! We've really been focusing on that lately, how the scriptures and especially the Book of Mormon answer the questions of the soul. Whoever said there wasn't a manual for life/parenting?!? How grateful I am that we have this book that was designed to enlighten our hearts and minds and help us to answer the mysteries of life! How glorious that we can feel the spirit and receive direct and personal revelation through pondering it's pages!
We started teaching the Martinez family and they are really great! They desire to know the truth. I really feel so blessed anytime someone opens their heart and their home in earnest desire to know for themselves if this gospel is true. I know that it is with all my heart and although my Spanish is choppy and my teaching skills are far from refined, I know that the Spirit is the true teacher and makes up for where I lack.
I am absolutely loving every second with Hermana Trejo. She is so fun and such a great missionary. Not to mention she is going to teach me how to make tortillas and horchata and other delicious Mexican things. I've just gotta say: life is so good. :)
I love this time of year! Not only are Cadbury mini eggs in season (guilty pleasure) but Easter is coming! Such a beautiful time to remember that Jesus Christ lives. He lives! There is no better news. The church has created an Easter initiative called Because He Lives. The video will be released on the 28th so watch for it!
Con mucho amor,
Hermanita Dearden
