Beautiful Stalker June 23, 2015

Crazy week! This Albuquerque heat is no child's play.
We moved to a super nice apartment! Here's my new address:
5800 Osuna NE #108
Albuquerque, NM

I turned 20 this week and I know I'm way too young to start thinking I'm old...but holy cow I feel old. Hermana Bleak made me a cute halfway mark/ birthday cake that we took to district meeting on friday. On Saturday the branch mission leader and his wife fed us. They invited the elders as well and they were on exchanges so the poor english elder (that's only been out 1 month) was so just lost and out of it the whole time. Pobrecito. They bought me a cake. Then we went to the stake soccer/cookout activity. Sara and Martin came! They loved it. They also brought me a tres leches cake and everyone sang las mananitas to me. :) The team from our branch the whole tournament (rightfully so, they are mexicanos...:)) Also, one of my favorite hermanas from the branch bought me a skirt! So sweet.
The highlight of the week, and possibly my whole mission so far, was friday night. We took Martin and Sara to the temple with a family in the branch that got baptized 2 years ago. They loved it. Sara said to me that she felt so calm and peaceful just being outside the temple that she couldn't even imagine how it would feel inside. She wants to go there just to sit on the grounds and read the Book of Mormon. :) It was such a good reminder to me that the temple really is the ultimate goal-- our focus and purpose of teaching these people and also of life!
We had to teach relief society on sunday...haha it was pretty rough. One of the Hermanas just kept correcting our spanish the whole time. But it's all good. We just have to focus on all the compliments that people give us on our spanish and let the insults slide of our backs. Definitely something I have had to learn because lets just say that the culture here is very...blunt.
Also we got called beautiful stalkers on Sunday night. It didn't help the man's case that he lived on "Shady Lane." But...such is the result of being nice and talking to everyone. hahaha.
Sorry I am getting progressively worse at writing! It's a struggle.
Lesson of the week: We have to have trials in this life so that we can learn. It's no fun but it really is a blessing. Trials give us perspective and help us to recognize the hand of our Heavenly Father in our lives. He loves us. He wants to help us. 1 nephi 3:7 and 1 Corinthians 10:13 ---- He knows us individually and personally!!
Love love love,
Hermana Dearden
