Gunshots or fireworks? You never know... October 21, 2014

I can hardly believe it but this is my last email from Mexico!! I fly out at 5 am on Monday morning. USA HERE I COME. Mexico (or at least this little oasis we call the CCM) is wonderful but I am pumped to return to the land that I love. Also wont miss the constant gunshots and fireworks haha.

This week has really been so great. Singing for Elder Andersen was amazing. His presence alone was so powerful and on top of that each one of us here got to shake his hand! He talked to us about the Atonement and missionary work. Something I loved he said is that NOTHING is more important than Jesus Christ. He is the Savior of the world and His sacrifice will touch every person that has ever breathed a breath. Wow!

Earlier in the week we were teaching in TRC (to volunteers) and we taught this one lady who talked SO FAST and so much. We had no idea what was going on. It felt like there was a leaf blower in my face for the 20 minutes that the lesson lasted. It was rough. And apparently she told our teacher that we need lots of help. It was definitely humbling and a glimpse of how things will be next week in the field. Next week. Holy cow.

However!! My companion and I taught particularly great lesson this week. During feedback she told us that she loved it and thought we did a great job and that if we can teach like that every time we will be very powerful missionaries. Then we come to find out that people from Salt Lake are here to evaluate and we have to teach her in front of them tomorrow morning! Yikes!

This week has been so fun with my district. These 10 elders are like the brothers that I never had. I love them so much! We all play volleyball together every day for gym and are all just so silly and such good friends. Also yesterday during service, 4 of our elders got stuck in this sketchy elevator and it took them thirty minutes to get them out. There is a little circular glass window on the elevator door though so we could look in it and see them through it. They were stuck in between floors and it was probably the hardest I laughed all week. So hilarious. It is going to be hard to say goodbye to them on Sunday! 6 of them are going to Nicaragua and 2 are going to El Salvador. They are so worried because the wont have my Tide-to-go pen to use anymore. (They get Nutella on their white shirts on the daily haha)

Our good friends left this week which was sad but I know that I will see them again when we are all back in Utah! I have been so blessed with many wonderful friendships here! It has been such a wonderful experience here and I wouldn't trade any of it, good times or bad. I absolutely can not wait for all the adventures and friendships that await me in New Mexico!

I am trying to enjoy every last minute here because I know that it will fly by. We already celebrated our 1 month mark last week!

Have a wonderful week, keep on keeping on, and nunca olvide que son hijos de un dios amoroso!
