The Ghetto Be Hoppin! August 25, 2015

Hola mis amigos!
This email is coming your way a little later than usual today-- sorry about that! This morning was full of doctors appointments and then we went hiking with the elders! Note to self: hiking after getting blood drawn? Not the smartest thing. But all is dandy!
So, it's the time you have all been waiting for: fun facts about Hermana March!
1- She is from San Fransisco(ish), California
2- She went to BYU for a year before her mission. During her first semester went on 47 DATES.
3- She is adopted and her birth father was an Italian mafia member.
4- She plays flute, sings, golfs, and swims.
We've had a crazy week! Working hard, and busy busy! Here's some quotes from the street:
"If you ever need help in the hood, we've got your back!"
"Jesus appeared to me as a child as I was playing with my hot rods. He said, 'You are a secondary Moses. LEAD. MY. PEOPLE!'"
"I've been to hell three times. Everyone there is naked."
Needless to say, this place is always interesting.
Saturday the stake had a family history activity that was super awesome! I was able to help a couple people from the branch get started on their family history. Which, by the way, is so awesome. I LOVE it.
Training has been going great! It's weird to be the one totally in charge of everything but it's really good for me. She is anxious to be fluent in the language and the way of missionary life, but that definitely takes time, diligence, and patience. She is very excited to do the work and very dependent on the spirit. Just having the increase of responsibility in being a trainer has already impacted me. I feel more motivated, courageous, and spiritually minded. Also, being the senior companion is strange because in her eyes I go home "so soon." I really can't imagine life other than this right now. I just love it so much! I've also been reflecting on the changes in myself throughout the last eleven months and am amazed at the difference. It is so incredible how this work and the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ change you so much! The church is true, y'all!
Don't forget your PJ'S: prayer, journal, scriptures!
Con cariƱo,
Hermana Dearden
