Sister Ramirez and I are both staying in Horizon for this transfer! And actually our entire district is staying the exact same! I'm so happy :)
Right after I emailed last pday we went to the gym in the church with all the missionaries from the english and spanish zones and there was a young couple there with their baby talking to some of the missionaries.
I wondered who they were but went on my merry way. A couple minutes later my comp and I got pulled over and introduced to them.
Her name is Victoria and she wanted to be taught by the missionaries!
Her friend (yep, not a couple) had brought her there to show her the church. Long story short, we have taught her twice now and she is the most prepared person I have ever met.
She soaks in everything we say, feels the spirit so strong...and is being baptized on February 14th! I never thought I would experience a miracle like this.
After the first lesson we assigned her a chapter of the Book of Mormon to read and she read 9!!
Also she told us that she had been praying to know if the church and everything we taught was true and she asked Heavenly Father to take her by the hand and guide her through this.
That night she had a dream that Jesus came and took her by the hand and led her. I am overjoyed to know her and to get to be her missionary.
Also this week Hermana Ramirez turned 23! (and along with that I probably gained 23 pounds) They sure love birthdays here and go all out. I lost track of how many cakes were given to us! Whew.
The members sure love her! We ate with a less active family we have been working with a lot on her birthday and they gave BOTH of us presents! Perks of having a companion ;)
One of our investigators is a hair dresser and did Hermana Ramirez's hair for her birthday! She was so excited. I took every ounce of energy within me to not bust up laughing while I watched her to it because it turned out BLUE.
It's so terrible. The picture attached is after 3 washes already, and now it's more of a silvery blue. An 8 year old member said, "You look beautifuuuuul! Like Elsa!!" So. Accurate.
We had so much this past week and have seen a lot of success! I wish I had time to write about all of it but there is much work to yet be done :) I absolutely love being a missionary.
I know this time is very short so I'm just trying to enjoy every minute of it! I am so blessed. Heavenly Father is aware of the needs and situations of each and every one of us. And He is always just a prayer away!
Much love!
Steady & True,
Hermana Dearden
